Media Language Analysis
L/O: To analyse a media text using media language.
This type of camera shot is a Medium Long Shot
Why do you think they've chosen this shot type?
I think they have chosen this shot type because it shows almost 007's full outfit, shows a hand gun with a holster, which suggests that the movie will contain action, and also shows 007's serious look on his face.
The suggestive clothing of this film gives you the picture of a spy movie, with stealth-fitting clothes. This also suggests that it could contain action.
There are only 3 props in this picture. The pistol the pistol holster, and the watch. The pistol especially gives off a dangerous and action packed look. Suggests the film will involve firearm combat.
The background is pretty bland, except there is a suggestive '007' on the wall, referencing his callsign in the film.
Diegetic Sounds in the Trailer
- Explosions
- Gunshots
- Crashing
- Dialogue
- General sounds, footsteps, birds etc.
The cuts at the end of the trailer increases in pace for an added increase in action and tension, with many scenes of cars flipping, explosions and more as they are flicked through quickly before the end. It adds a rushing face paced sense of action and thrill.
Tenet
In this trailer, there were many compositions of events such as explosives on set and use of props such as firearms. Not all of this was CGI, the costumes and clothing used on set was very action-style related and some was military styled. Many different camera shots are used for several effects, considering it shows many moments throughout the whole film, especially the exciting bits. Anything from Extreme Wides to Close Ups was used in this trailer.
In the Tenet trailer, Mise-En-Scene is used to increase dramatic effect and to immerse the viewer/audience in the action. For example, there were such scenes that included some non CGI explosives that would've been executed by a controlled combustion of flammable substance. This gives a more raw and believable feel to these types of effects and therefore can immerse the viewer, leading to a good scene.
Also in the trailer, a variety of Camerawork is also used. Because this is a trailer, it crams in a lot of information about the film and so therefore it includes a wide range of camera shots, ranging from extreme wide shots whilst running from an explosion, to close up shots for a suspensive or tense feel. Most types of shots are included in this trailer as, once again it crams a lot of the movie highlights in.

Hacksaw Ridge
This scene contains several methods and effects in the background to create a war torn landscape image as he is dragging the casualty away, it's using Mise-En-Scene and camerawork.
The main soundtrack is a couple pieces of music from the early 1940s (considering thats around when this film is set) and tense and grand orchestra music for the main scenes of war. You can expect this in a film such as this considering the general setting, quite typical but still effective.
There is a couple examples of CGI, that being explosions and effects like that, and possibly flying aircraft, but not much more than that. Most of the events like this are executed on set and not Computer Generated.
There is a wide range of camera shots, ranging from close ups to extreme wides from above the battlefield. However, this is very common in several movie trailers. Not many only use a selected range of camera shots.
